Christmas Cheer

My holiday vacation has been grand, and to think we still have New Year's to celebrate! Below are a few shots that capture it well. Homemade donuts, elfs on shelfs and so much more.

Wishing you all relaxing and rejuvinating holiday breaks filled with long naps and too many sweets!

Year In Quotes

As is my tradition, below is a little food for thought that I've collected over the past year. I hope you enjoy these nuggets as much as I did.

"I would like to be a famous singer so when I accept awards, I can say 'Go Cougs!'" - Mason A.

"Don't you ever wish there was a 'Control F' for life?" - Brianne D.

"I think I'm in like with you." - Jon F.

"Work will swell to fill the time you give it." - Shoshana R.

"You always catch me with my clothes on inside out." - Brianne D.

"Starting your own traditions is both the sad and sweet part of getting older." - Gwen (at Habit)

The Merriest

The party last night was the best it's ever been - games and memories and so, so much laughter. Today a cold front has kept us inside, snuggled in our new slippers in front of the fire with homemade donuts to keep us full.

Christmas Tradition

The fire may have been fake, but the fun sure wasn't. He was excited about his record player, and I still can't believe he went back for my vest. One day we'll be able to do our gift exchange on the actual day, but even then, I'll always remember our fancy pre-Christmas dinners.

Number 17

Can be crossed off the list.

The recipe made 4 dozen, but only 1 dozen turned out the way I like them. Turns out I'm one of the few who don't like gooey, half-baked cookies. Who knew?

I threw in the rice krispy treats for good measure. Those are my specialty, and suprisingly, quite the crowd pleaser.

Tonight is me and Mason's Christmas celebration. Sushi and presents are on the agenda. I'm already wishing the next 8 hours away.

Light It Up

He was so very proud of the lights in his apartment windows. He asked me to go outside and take a picture of them. I padded down the stairs in my socks, and he waved at me down below. I can only imagine how he'll be when he has a house to decorate.

Tis the Season

Christmas trees in windows. Blue Bell peppermint icecream. Fireplaces with soft little stools. Holiday parties and gift exchanges. The way the living room looks when it's lit by only white lights.

There are so, so many things I love about this season.

Hard Ones

Last week was a hard one. It's tough to go through something like this so close to the holidays.

I was surprised at what a big part the sharing of food played in the whole process. Every time a new sandwich tray or plate of cookies came to the door, it seemed the sadness was lifted just a little, and when we sat together to enjoy it all, our meals were filled with happy memories of her, memories we'll carry with us forever.

West Coast Christmas

I must say, I think palm trees look their prettiest wrapped in holiday spirit.

Number 6

Can be checked off the first list, which helps out number 24 on the current list.

I know - so many lists, so little time. Good thing I love lists. And good thing I got this one scratched off just in time to start the new year in prime organization mode.
